Armed police officers forced a car to pull over and detained an occupant at gunpoint last night.
At least three police vehicles chased the car and forced it to stop at about 7.15pm.
One eyewitness said: “Three police cars came in different directions at this car.
“There were police with guns aimed at the car, shouting at people to get out.”
She added she saw two men get out of the car and that officers later searched the vehicle.
The incident happened on South Road, Warwick, near the Rubis gas station.
Other traffic on the main road was halted as the drama unfolded.
A police spokesman said: “The traffic stop was part of an ongoing exercise.”
He confirmed a man was in police custody.
