Christmas has arrived early for Roger Lee Jr who was signed by Estonian top-flight club JK Tallinna Kalev yesterday.

The 27-year old defender accepted the terms of a deal to play for the club next season, following in the footsteps of Bermuda national team team-mate Danté Leverock, who played for Narva Trans last season before joining top-flight Irish club Sligo Rovers last week.

“Delighted to have signed with @JKTallinnaKalev for the 2019 season,” Lee wrote on the social media network Twitter.

The deal comes four months after the player completed a two-week trial at Kalev last August.

He was among a number of players who impressed during Pro Soccer Consulting’s Baltic summer showcase events and was recommended to Kalev by PSC Baltic and European Recruiter Alex Cekulajevs, following a string of fine midfield performances in Latvia and Lithuania.

The son of Somerset Eagles coach Roger Lee Sr and nephew of Paget Lions coach Robert Lee, last season’s First Division Coach of the Year award recipient, joins Kalev from English non-league side Loughborough Dynamo FC who are based in Leicestershire.

Lee is the third Bermudian to be signed after attending a PSC showcase event this year behind Bermuda team-mates Leverock and Willie Clemons who plays for Swedish Second Division side Bodens BK.

Through their academy and events PSC’s aim is to expose and showcase aspiring players in the Concacaf region to professional and college teams from around the world in Europe, Asia and North America.

Lee has played for a slew of teams on both sides of the Atlantic, including the Bermuda Hogges, Indianapolis Greyhounds, Weston-super-Mare, Clevedon Town, Rugby Town, Stamford, Basford United, Corby Town and Stafford Rangers.

He has represented Bermuda on twelve occasions, making his international debut in 2008 in a Concacaf Gold Cup qualifying match against Antigua and Barbuda.
