Bermuda teams to compete at US Championships

The Bermuda Volleyball Association has announced its teams who will compete at the US Open Championships in Columbus, Ohio, from Monday until Wednesday.

The menís team, playing under the name Ace Boyz, will be competing in the Menís B Division.

Their opening day matches start at 5pm, followed by matches at 7pm and 9pm Bermuda time.

Ace Boyz include Mike Sakata, Neal Towlson, Josh Malpas, Kyle Hamilton, Tyler Siese, Eron Woods, Keiran Hamilton, Riley Rego, Brandon Sousa and Tiago Ferriera. Head coach Bill Bucci will be assisted by Chad Stoddard and Ian Bucci.

The womenís programme are entering two teams in the B Division under the team names Island Spice and Island Time.

Both womenís teams have the same schedule playing at 10am, 12pm and 2pm.

Island Spice are made up of Meg Calhoun, Ruth Cavanagh, Khianda Pearman-Watson, Sy McPeek, Nicole Volek, Sophia Sontag and Leticia Lima Ferriera. Elisabeth Rae is the head coach.

Island Times player are Kamryn Martins, Charlene Place, Savannah Loder, Jade Weaver, Lysmeiri Santana Suazo, Monica Kurz, Melanie Lopes and Monique Cordeiro. Juanita Blee is serving as head coach.

The BVA will attempt to livestream as many matches as possible on the BVA YouTube channel. Scores, updates and photos will be posted on Facebook and Instagram.
