Kiara Francis seized her very last opportunity to qualify for Carifta Games in Cayman Islands next month, taking the Bermuda National Athletics Association’s team to 19 athletes.

Competing in her first outdoor meet of the season in the Notts AC Spring Outdoor meet at Harvey Hadden Stadium in Nottingham, yesterday, Francis, who lives in England, tossed the shot put a distance of 12.0 metres, surpassing the 11.90 qualification distance for the under-20 girls category.

Her inclusion now means that the Bermuda National Athletics Association have named 11 under-17 division athletes and eight in the under-20 division to compete at the Games.

Most of the participants will compete in running events, from the 100 to 5,000, 4x100 and 4x400 metres relay races, as well as long jump and high jump.
